This is a project in the tech space – an online portal. Before I started working on it, it had around 7K monthly Organic visits. As a tech enthusiast myself, I was happy to step in and apply my knowledge. 

You see, previously, the articles on this website were not exhaustive enough, and the team lacked a clear SEO content strategy. Published articles didn’t have a schedule. Sometimes writers added more, sometimes added less; therefore, there was no consistency.

What’s even worse, authors were writing about what they thought would be useful and popular, and not what the market needed. This is a fundamental distinction, and that’s why the necessary SEO tools have to be used regularly to verify popularity. You can have the best writers, but nobody will find you if you cover unpopular topics!

With the right SEO strategy for a content website in place and continuous work, we reached over one million Organic yearly users.

First of all, here are 12 months of Organic traffic volume before working with me:

As you can see, previously the site got 87,882 Organic users in 12 months, which gives us around 7,323 monthly users.

Now, let’s look at the results.

The first year of working together: 

In the first year, the traffic improved by 184% percent – the site got 249,778 Organic users in a year.

Second year: 

In the second year, the number of Organic users improved again, surpassing half a million users and reaching 630,057. This translates to a growth rate of 152%.

Third year: 

In the third year, the traffic was steady and remained at a high level. We’ve crossed the barrier of 1,000,000 Organic users. This gives us a 58% growth year over year, which translates to +370,211 Organic users.

The end result is getting from 87,882 to 1,000,268 yearly users in the presented timeframe. Meaning 11x SEO traffic growth. 

Services provided: 

  • First of all, I’ve looked into technical SEO aspects of the website and performed an audit. When it comes to content sites, they have to be accessible, attractive to the reader, load fast, and they should pass new Google’s requirements such as Core Web Vitals. 
    We’ve improved the technical side of this portal to make it more Search Engine and user-friendly, so we combined SEO aspects with UX optimizations.
  • I helped current writers to better understand the art of writing an optimized SEO article. They’ve learned to format it in the right way, use headings, tables of contents, to include keywords, take care of the image alternate tags and to write in a structured way that is Google-friendly instead of writing without any framework in a „hit or miss” manner.
  • The number of published articles was too low and the competition was publishing much more frequently. This factor is called content velocity, and it was a priority to improve on it. Because of my experience in the tech space, I’ve decided to help to find new, additional writers that had a good grasp of the topic. I managed to connect with people who had optimal qualifications in the technology field and hired them. 
  • I shared our SEO framework for writing content and asked new writers to share their credentials on a website. This gave the portal an extra boost in terms of Experience Expertise Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (commonly referred as the „E-E-A-T” ranking factor in Google). 
  • When the writers were prepared, it was time to plan the content for them and to do extensive keyword research. This was performed by me each month. I’ve spent long hours researching the competition, analyzed different topics and came up with the ones that had the most potential to rank. The key was to find popular topics that at the same time were not covered by the „tech giants” that had been building their SEO for decades. This is not an easy task, but a very rewarding one. 
  • You can compare it to planting healthy seeds that are more likely to blossom. Over time, I’ve found a couple hundred content opportunities for my client.
  • Steady content growth was topped off by acquiring quality, topically relevant backlinks to the website. Getting new links can be compared to getting votes for your site – they help you to gain more trust in Google’s eyes; therefore, the content can rank better. 
This combination of SEO services resulted in 11x traffic growth, which surpassed expectations and helped to generate new possibilities in terms of site monetization.
